I am trying to set up mythtv on a new Ubuntu Dapper (6.04) install and
am having troubles getting ivtv installed and set up. I have followed
instructions on various web sites (such as
http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Firmware )and everything goes OK up to
a point. The problem is in step 3 on the IVTV driver firmware set up
page where it says to copy the v4l firmware to the hotplug directory.

The problem is that I don't have a hotplug directory. I don't have
hotplug on the computer. I could install with apt-get, but this would
end up removing a dozen other programs including udev. I don't
understand this whole issue, but I am guessing that the newest ubuntu
is using udev instead of hotplug.

What should I do? Is there an alternate place I can copy the firmware
for a non-hotplug computer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Craig
