Hi all, I'm glad to announce that I've just released ivtv-0.6.0. This version is specific for use with the 2.6.16 kernel. It will *not* work with older kernels and it will *not* work with later kernels. In many way this is an interim release: we want to get ivtv into the kernel, but many things have to change in both the kernel and in ivtv before that is possible. This version, together with the 2.6.16 kernel, represents perhaps 30% of the work done. My guess is that when ivtv-0.7/2.6.17 is released some 70% of the work is done. The goal is to get it into the kernel by 2.6.18.
Those who are using older kernels can expect an ivtv-0.4.4 release next weekend. That will be a bugfix release only. Anyway, since www.ivtvdriver.org seems to be unreachable (mass FC5 downloads again from the atrpms.net?) I've made the source archive available here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~hverkuil/ivtv-0.6.0.tar.gz. Tomorrow or more likely Thursday I'll update www.ivtvdriver.org with the proper links. And finally the ChangeLog is appended below. Five new cards are supported! Three of them come from the Japanese 'paken' branch that is now merged into ivtv. A few more cards from that branch need a final patch to saa7115 and will become available in 2.6.17. Many thanks for the paken developers and T.Adachi in particular who did a great job improving the new i2c-drivers. Three of them are also slated for inclusion into the 2.6.17 kernel (saa717x needs too much work). Enjoy! Hans Verkuil IVTV changes: 0.6 release: - Add support for the Yuan MPC622 card. - Add support for the Gotview PCI DVD2 Deluxe card. - Add support for Nagase Transgear 5000TV - Add support for AOpen VA2000MAX-STN6 - Add support for Yuan MPG600GR/Kuroutoshikou CX23416GYC-STVLP - Added support for i2c devices saa717x, wm8739, upd64031a and upd64083. - Added module options pal, ntsc and secam to be able to specify a specific standard type (e.g. pal=m to select PAL-M or ntsc=j to select NTSC_M_JP for Japan). - tuner, tveeprom, cx25840, saa7115, saa7127, wm8775 and msp3400 are now moved into the kernel and are no longer provided by ivtv. - Firmware hotplug support is now REQUIRED. - Inputs now start counting at 1 instead of 0. As per v4l standard. - Add ivtv_pci_latency option to suppress setting PCI latency to 64. Some motherboards can't handle that. - Card definitions are much improved making it easier to add new cards. - /dev/vbi devices are now vbi0, vbi8, vbi16 instead of vbi0, vbi4, vbi8. - Added ivtv-pcm-tester.c (PCM output level/sample.freq diagnostic tool) - videodev.h/videodev2.h from the kernel is used. It's no longer included in ivtv. - Added ivtvctl GPIO options (read/set GPIO pins). Useful for discovering GPIO settings of new cards. - Removed ivtvctl --input-detect option (use --log-status instead). - Add ivtvctl controls for bass, treble, loudness and balance. - Improve detection of PVR250/PVR150 models. - Allow ivtv-tune to be used as an external program in MythTV. _______________________________________________ ivtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://ivtvdriver.org/mailman/listinfo/ivtv-users
