Subject: Re: [ivtv-users] ubuntu firmware path

Hi all,

I still get the same error:

--------------
ivtv0: unable to open firmware v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
ivtv0: did you put the firmware in the hotplug firmware directory?
ivtv0 warning: failed loading encoder firmware
ivtv0 warning: Error loading firmware -3!
ivtv0: Error -3 initializing firmware.
i2c_adapter i2c-0: adapter [ivtv i2c driver #0] unregistered
ivtv0: Error -12 on initialization
ivtv: probe of 0000:02:09.0 failed with error -12
--------------

The file can be found at:
# locate v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
/usr/local/lib/hotplug/firmware/v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw

These are the ubuntu breezy hotplu/firmware paths. Where should the file
still be?

os: ubuntu breezy
kernel: 2.6.15.5 (my own compilation)
ivtv: 0.4.3
firmware: latest

ubuntu dapper is all 2.6.16 kernels. I dist-upgrade'd once from breezy,
smoothly,
except make sure you "apt-get -f install" with no issues before reboot.

I got mysql prereq going for mythtv but haven't got time yet to try strace
modprobe ivtv for
my pvr150. ivtv was working great with bare-metal hard-head linux but I decided
I could save
two months a year by using a point and click distro. "not reinventing the
wheel".
