After I figured out what to search for "tinny audio", I found that others were having similar probems.  What fixed it for me was "ivtvctl -q 1".  Thanks much to those who posted this suggestion.  This only worked for a single recording though.  Is there a way to make this change permanent?  Right now, I've got it running every minute in crontab and would rather find another way.  Is there somewhere in MythTV where you can set a command line to run before and after every recording? Or is there some way to set this when ivtv is initially loaded?
