I welcome comments on the following...

I have to say that after all of the hoops I've been jumping through
(trying to get my PVR-500 Samsung) tuner card working, I finally broke
down and bought a PVR-150 MCE on the way home last night. Since there
aren't any driver issues for the PVR-150 in ivtv-0.4-[2,3,4], I went
ahead and installed using Knoppmyth R5B7. I now have what I would call a
good to very good picture. For the fact that during development
(build-up) of my Mythtv box I'm using my DirecTV satellite feed I feel
the picture quality is quite good.

Note that the following flow is being buffered and processed both by the
existing Tivo and the Mythtv box. I have to be loosing some quality here.

Satellite Dish ---> DirecTV Tivo (SAT-T60) ---S-Video---> Mythtv
(PVR-150) ---> S-Video ---> Sony 42" HD TV

Long story short, it appears that there are issues for the PVR-500
Samsung on Knoppmyth R5B7. I've been told, R5A30 works with an upgrade to
ivtv-0.4.3 (ivtv-0.4.4 didn't work for me). The ivtv download site was
down last night, so I can't confirm.

Follow on - I've noticed a slight buzz on the audio occasionally when I
select Watch TV. If I Escape back to the menu, and then select Watch TV a
second time, it goes away. Haven't even researched it yet.

To Do's...
  Configure IR Reciever and Blaster
Configure PVR-150 MCE remote (new one)
Decide on files ystem for second drive (WD SATA - 250G) Leaning
towards XFS.
Get PVR-500 working for three inputs.

Would like to have...
  Install Mythtv on XBox

What fun we are having!

I have a quite long (but shielded, as far as i know), and if i plug it
in, i am acctually able to recive NRK (public broadcast television). The
quality then isn't great, but with using the cable as an antenna? I
would suggest trying the card in another computer. It might be some
component inside your computer that is making a lot of noice.
> Otoh, ive had some troubles with poor colours on recordings made from
composite. I am digitizing some olde Hi8 tapes, connecting the camcorder
to the cards composite port. But the images are almost B/W, at least
untill i turned up briteness and saturision on my DVD player. On the
camcorder the colour quality is OK. I haven't yet decided if it was due
to the dvd player using wrong settings or the recording using poor
settings, but i will find out - suspect it is a combination... Just got
to find time to borrow someones DVD player/TV set and test :)

forcing other types including 39, 49 and 56)
