No, I didn't try the Debian Howto, but the plain Linux Howto.

Well, this time I did the following:

1.) cd /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/media/video/
2.) tar cjf ivtv.tar.bz2 *.old
NOTE to other readers: I renamed the kernle modules privously.
3.) tar tjf ivtv.tar.bz2
4.) rm -v *.old
5.) cd
6.) depmod -a
7.) REBOOT
8.) cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg

This time, after the reboot I did not only get a device "video0" but I was
also able to read data from it. :-)

Of course, this data was just the usual black/white noise. But for the first
time I got data from my TV card under Linux.

Best wishes,
Leonhard.

PS: So far I didn't any second reboot. I want some real picture first. ;-)
