Ian, Thank you very much for the timely reply to my query. Lo and behold, it helps to do things right! Updated to 2.6.8-3 with appropriate headers and all compiled right, and have gotten to the end of the HOWTO with the syslog looking all OK (to me) with no errors reported and apparently my PVR350 recognized, firmware OK, etc. I assume you wrote the HOWTO (Debian) that I was following, so I do thank you also for taking the time to produce it -- it helped. I did find that the bug in current kernel header packages that you mention in it is apparently no longer present, so skipping that step worked OK. I see that Debian puts the module in /lib/modules/<kernel ver>/extra/ instead of just /lib/modules/ that I find mentioned elsewhere. Thanks again for the help -- it was what was needed! Now ... on to the rest of the mythtv and mvp install ...
