Kyle,

I've dealt with a lot of what you are going through with my PVR 500
card. First thing you need to do is upgrade your firmware. It appears by
the size of your firmware that you are using the old version (Which did
have a problem of this nature). You can get the new version at
ftp://ftp.hauppauge.com/Support/PVR150/Beta/amity24073.prerelease.zip .
Just download that file and look for the HcwMakoC.ROM file. Copy this
over your v4l-cx25840.fw file and reload ivtv (You can do this with
rmmod, but a more simple way would be rebooting your linux box).

After you've done that, if you still have problems, upgrade your
firmware. The Changelog for version 4.5 mentions something of the nature
of the problem you are having.

Admittedly it is possible that you may have problems after that (I'm
still having some problems and may upgrade my kernel to 2.6.16+ and try
IVTV version .6.2), then read go to
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_PVR-500#No_sound_on_first_recording

. They have written a script that may help remedy your problem.

Hope this helps.

Jonathan
