I have to admit, I'm very surprised to say this: unplugging the power worked.

I've seen this problem basically since I started with MythTV about two
months ago. During that time I've unplugged the machine to move it
from the home office to the living room and a few other times for some
quick changes, like changing CPU fans. I couldn't say how long it had
been unplugged for, but certainly longer than 30 seconds; probably a
few minutes.

Anyway, I unplugged the machine the other night before bed, then
plugged it back in when I got up. Watching live TV through Myth went
wonderfully, with no blockiness artificating! Still working great,
too.
