I had forgotten that the Samsung tuners were the ones with the problem. I've seen some discussion about testing the Hauppauge board with Windows.
Is it absolutely necessary to test a PVR-500MCE with Windows Media Center Edition? Or can it be tested with Windows XP Professional? I have the latter, but not the former. However, I can't figure out how to install the drivers from the installation CD -- there doesn't seem to be any install script, WinXP "finds" the devices without asking for drivers, and if I remove them and have it rediscover them, it won't find the drivers on the CD. Can anyone give me a clue, here? It would be much appreciated. I'd like to figure out for sure if I've got a bad board before I RMA it to Hauppauge. Thanks.
