Sorry about the format problem...my first post and it showed!

I have been on a long, winding road trying to get MythTV
working. After several days of learning and ultimately
giving up with FC 4, I decided to switch to a fresh install
of FC 5. I experienced and read about a conflict with
kernel-2.6.17 and the ivtv drivers so my plan was not
to upgrade the default FC 5 installation kernel (2.6.15)
right away. Instead I would go straight to loading the
ivtv drivers and see if I could at least get TVtime
working. Using yum I could see that dependencies from
ivtv were going to force a kernel upgrade. Not knowing
what other viable options I had, I let it happen. There
were no apparent problems during the install
(I did include ivtv_xdriver). When I open TVtime I
get the following message: ivtv: Invalid argument,
Cannot open capture device /dev/video0. I know that
MythTV is many hours of work ahead of me, but there
seems to be no point in trying if I can't get past the
TVtime error (exactly the same error msg I got from
Fedora Core 4 upgraded to kernel-2.6.17, by the way.)

So?? I would rather wait a bit and use the latest
kernel assuming my simple experiment is
valid.....and that a fix is coming.
