All thanks for the replies.

I installed a standard kernel without much modifications because I am quite new
to the kernel things.

To the comment about letting ivtv load the required modules:
I want nothing more then that but it gives those errors while modprobing them
manually works but then still ivtv don't finds them.

I alsa tried the tuner command but still it don't load the modules.

I reinstalled a x86 version and got ivtv working this is the output of the ivtv

Hi,

I am a gentoo user.
For a while I used the x86 kernel for my amd 64 Venice core processor.
After a problem which required a reinstall I decide to install the 64 bit
kernel and use my processor completely.

Gentoo is working great in 64 bit but only ivtv isn't.
Here is the dmseg information

The strangest part is that ivtv is complaining about the tuner, tda9887, ...
module and if I use modprobe tuner then the tuner module is loaded fine but
even then ivtv can't find it.
I am desperately looking for a solution for this.

I know for sure that the tv card is working perfectly in both windows as in
gentoo x86 but not in the amd64bit edition.

I hope someone had this problem and found the solution.
You can always contact me on [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hope to hear you soon.

Problem is also posted on gentoo forums:

The first thing i would recommend to all people is to have only the
absolute minnimum compiled into the kernel. Think drivers needed at boot
like ide drivers, acpi or USB mice/keyboards.

Let ivtv load the dependant drivers and everyting you need after boot
via the standard autoload module config file (for gentoo it
is /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6)

You fail to mention which is your card's name. The reason i am asking is
that the first card is being recognized a s yuan card and the second as
the second tuner on a PVR500. So it might just be your card is being
"mis" detected for some reason.

Can you force the tuner type for the first tuner to be of type 62? Make
this happen by passing tuner=62,62 to the ivtv module. As you are using
gentoo, like me ;-) put "options ivtv tuner=62,62"
in /etc/modules.d/ivtv. I got 62 from the second tuner.

Sander

I tried the 30 second powerdown this morning and it didn't help.
