I'm having a strange problem with my hauppage 250 and ivtv 0.7 on 2.6.17.  This also occured with ivtv 0.4.x on 2.6.15 (vanilla install of ubuntu 6.06 dapper).  I had this card working before some major OS surgery was needed, so I'm pretty sure the hardware is ok...

I basically get NO data (zero bytes) when I cat /dev/video0.  I'm sure it's something I've misconfigured, but I groped through all the dmesg (see below) that I could find and didn't get any clues (on either 2.6.17 or 2.6.15).

Based on the troubleshooting, i tried changing inputs and channels. When I change channels I can prove that the tuner is correctly detecting input because I get this with the cable TV plugged in:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ivtv-tune -c 2
/dev/video0: 55.250 MHz  (Signal Detected)

If I unplug the cable, the signal detection goes away, so it seems that the inputs are ok.

Any ideas on where to look next?  I would greatly appreciate any leads, I've been fighting with this for days.

thanks
ian smith
