Here's my setup: Terminal tab 1: cat /dev/video0 > ~/some.mpg Terminal tab 2: gmplayer ~/some.mpg Terminal tab 3: ivtv-tune -c<the channel> (changing channels as neccesary)
Its not a fancy PVR, but its good enough for a bit of TV running while I work. The bonus is that mplayer's pause *does not* work if you are reading directly from the stream, but *does* work if you are reading from the intermediary file. Note: don't forget to periodically rm ~/some.mpg; you'll have a multi- Gig file in no-time.
