It is definitly not always a kernelissue.. i tried a Asus A8V with
my PVR-500, and the motherboard could not even post with the
Hauppauge-card mounted..

Then i tried a ULi M1697-based board (can't remember what board) and
that booted, ivtv detected the PVR fine, but when i tried to use the
videodevices it yelled about DMA-errors and reset... noacpi and
noapic didn't fix it... but THIS one could be a kernelbug i guess.

Now i'm on a nForce3-based board, and it works flawlessly.
