According to my bash history:

result: no sound
sudo vi /etc/modprobe.d/aliases (added alias tveeprom tveeprom-ivtv)
sudo depmod -a
sudo /sbin/rmmod ivtv cx25840 tuner tveeprom msp3400 wm8775 tda9887 saa7115 saa7127
sudo /sbin/modprobe ivtv
dmesg (output showed ivtv0: Failed to load module tveeprom)
mplayer /dev/video0
result: no sound
sudo vi /etc/modprobe.d/aliases
sudo /sbin/modprobe ivtv (oops, forgot to unload them)
sudo /sbin/rmmod ivtv cx25840 tuner tveeprom msp3400 wm8775 tda9887 saa7115 saa7127
sudo /sbin/modprobe ivtv
dmesg (showed msp3400 loaded and so did tveeprom)
mplayer /dev/video0
result: sound is back!
