I doubt if it's a firmware version.

I'm having the same problems. I have two macines, one using FC4 and one FC5. 
The machine using FC4 (also kernel 2142/ivtv 0.7.1) is fully functioning. 
The machine having FC5 has the same problem as yours. This machine is using 
a 64 bit kernel (AMD Sempron 3000+). When i install a i686 kernel, the 
problem disappears. When i recompile the 64 bit kernel without SMP the 
problem persists.

Are you using a 64 bit kernel?
