Why are you using ivtv-0.7.0 (meant for 2.6.17 kernels) with a 2.6.16 kernel? Has this never given warnings or errors?

I am running suse 10.1, have had no problems with ivtv and mythtv on a
pvr500, all of a sudden watching tv or recording the composite the
signal resembles one of the blit pattern tests on a graphics card,
that is little (variable in size) squares making up the entire screen.
I did an ivtvctl -a and the video standard indicated that it was one
of the pal standards, so I tried to set the standard with ivtvctl -u
10 or 11 or 12 which are the ntsc-j -k -m standards respectively.
Nothing corrected the problem.  I have not upgraded the system and for
a while, kernel 2.6.16-21.0.13 from opensuse with a matching build of
ivtv 0.7.0 and a subsequent kernel module.

The input is connected to the composite and is from a DirecTV d11-100 receiver.
