First I need confirmation that the setting of the LNA bit does in fact
make some channels worse. So if you are using 2.6.18 and have these
problems, then please go to drivers/media/video/tuner-types.c in the
kernel sources, search for 'Low Noise' and you'll see the PAL and NTSC
Samsung tuner entries. Remove the '+4' from your tuner, recompile,
install and check if the problematic channels are now improved. Please
let me know whether or not that is the case!
Ok. I removed the +4 from all three entries and I am back to a good picture on the first tuner and a lot of static on the second tuner. I am begining to believe that this setting is supposed to be on but some users have defective amplifiers that distort the picture. With the amp on I get the same quailty of signal on both tuners but with diagonal lines through the video that vary depending on the channel. On some channels these lines are in both directions so that the image looks like a faint diamond pattern over the complete video signal.
