Hmm, will that address the no version for "lirc_unregister_plugin" found
error?

I did a search on your username and did not find any references to this.  

I also check the lirc open source page:

Any suggestions on where I might find the fix you posted?

I am using the pvr-500, the messages above were just examples of the kind of
response I was expecting.

The pvr-500 I have is the MCE version, so those come with a remote plus an
IR receiver and an IR blaster.
