And indeed it did.

I went to:
http://www.ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Firmware

and followed the installation instructions using the firmware.tar.gz  
extracted files.

# ./ivtvlog.sh | grep firmware
Dec 13 19:23:57 mediaone kernel: ivtv0: loaded v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw  
firmware (262144 bytes)
Dec 13 19:23:57 mediaone kernel: cx25840 3-0044: loaded v4l- 
cx25840.fw firmware (16382 bytes)
Dec 13 19:23:57 mediaone kernel: ivtv1: loaded v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw  
firmware (262144 bytes)
Dec 13 19:23:57 mediaone kernel: cx25840 4-0044: loaded v4l- 
cx25840.fw firmware (16382 bytes)

And now I have sound.

The problem was installation error apparently - rpm or otherwise(!).
