Hans, Thank you for your response. After grepping /var/log/messages, I noticed the following DMA errors. Dec 13 23:59:32 localhost kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Error: prep osd dma to device rc=-5 Dec 13 23:59:32 localhost kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: DMA xfer from b7f6ea08 of 65536 bytes failed with (-5) offset = 0x140a00, total 1378816 Dec 13 23:59:32 localhost kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Error: prep osd dma to device rc=-5 Dec 13 23:59:32 localhost kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: DMA xfer from b7f6ea08 of 65536 bytes failed with (-5) offset = 0x140a00, total 1378816 Dec 13 23:59:32 localhost kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: Error: prep osd dma to device rc=-5 Dec 13 23:59:32 localhost kernel: ivtv0-osd warning: DMA xfer from b7f6ea08 of 65536 bytes failed with (-5) offset = 0x140a00, total 1378816 Meanwhile, I have turned off the cpuspeed daemon, hopefully that will cause the freezing to go away.
