Hi,
I'm also having troubles with the latest ivtv (from atrpms) version and
Fedora core 6 with a PVR500 card.
I tried to get this to work both in a domU (with pciback pci passtrough) and
natively in the dom0.
kernel version for both dom0 and domU is : 2.6.18-1.2849.fc6xen (updated
fedora core 6)
ivtv version (same on dom0 and domU) :
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# yum search ivtv | grep installed
ivtv.i386 1:0.8.2-123.fc6.at installed
ivtv-firmware.noarch 2:1.8a-10.at installed
perl-Video-Frequencies.noarch 0.03-4.fc6.at installed
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6xen.i686 1:0.8.2-123.fc6.at installed
perl-Video-ivtv.i386 0.13-8.fc6.at installed
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]#
I first tried to get my PVR500 card working in a domU with pciback.
That seems to go fine in dom0:
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:04:08.0 disabled
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:04:09.0 disabled
pciback: vpci: 0000:04:08.0: assign to virtual slot 0
pciback: vpci: 0000:04:09.0: assign to virtual slot 1
And also in domU:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# lspci
00:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16
(CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
00:01.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16
(CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]#
However, booting the domU with the updated fedora kernel and ivtv installed
yields a crash:
Starting udev: Fatal DMA error! Please use 'swiotlb=force'

<0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill the idle task!
[EMAIL PROTECTED] yum.repos.d]#
I'm having similar troubles getting the dom0 booting when i installed ivtv
on there.
The system crashes when it initialises udev.
However, at the moment i cannot get any loggin over here, since this machine
is my gateway.
I will provide more info asap.

You do not provide any info about your system and ivtv (versions used,
ivtv kernel messages etc). See [1] on what to provide when asking for
help and [2] for the trouble shooting page.
If you are on a mobo with via chipset please see [3].
