Sorry if that question was asked before but i could not find an answer
to this.

Ok, i have a PVR-250, i bought it quite a while ago, maybe 2002, and
have used it since in a DVR project (Myth and other things) and it was
always great.

Anyhow, last month i upgraded to digital cable TV and upgraded mythtv
and ivtv(0.8).

After upgrading myth, my picture started being greatly distorted, at
first i thought i screwed up my install, but since i have tried other
things like freevo, or just simple things like 'cat /dev/video0' and
that just provides distorted results.

Here is what i mean by distorted: the top20+ percent of the image is
flickering fast between good and black, then there is a distorted band
(image edged not straight, sort of like when you put a magnet next to a
screen). The whole image have messed up colors (sort of like the
Green, red, blue aren't lined up quite properly).

Since i did not trust the cable signal too much i decided to try the
svideo input (DVD player), and besides the image being sharper it is
basically the same issue (especially the top 20% flickering black.)

Anyway at this point i'm wondering the following:
1) Is it possible that a newer ivtv does not work right with my older
card, did that happen to anyone ? if yes should i try an older version.
2) Is it possible a newer firmware is causing the issue, did that happen
to anybody ? (should i try an old one)
3) Does it sound like maybe my card is just toast (any way to test this,
beside testing in a winblows box ?)
4) Does the distortion i describe just sound like i did not set
something right (i tried just about any v4l2-ctl and ivtv-tune settings
i could think about).

Any ideas ???

Let me know if you need screenshort/pictures, logs file etc...

Thanks
