I have an AMD Athalon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ processor and a PVR-150. I
don't have much experience with a bunch of other capture cards, but I will
say that I have had my problems. I think that most of it boils down to the
kernel you are running and what ivtv version you have.

I'll put it like this. I have ran Ubuntu Dapper and it was working well.
Then I upgraded to Edgy and kept getting 'Firmware Unresponsive" messages.
I then upgraded to Feisty and continued to have the "Firmware Unresponsive"
problem. I tried to disable 'cool 'n' quiet', cpu scaling, power
saving...even switched pci slots but nothing would fix it.

Finally, I know this is a pain, but I downloaded a vanilla kernel (2.6.19.3)
from kernel.org and compiled it on Edgy. Installed the .9.1 drivers and it
has been working great now for a few weeks. The only differences between
the working and non-working, that I could see, was the kernel.

The reason why I upgraded was because I got a new tuner card that needed a
later version of video4linux. V4L was updated and included in kernel 2.6.19.
When I tried to compile v4l on previous kernels, ivtv would constantly crash
onload.

So, that were all the problems that I have had with it. But once it's
running, it runs well. I didn't realize this before, but I love the fact
that it has an encoder on the card. It saves a heck of a lot of load on the
cpu.

Hope this helps!
