sorry, just now catching on that this thread was about a mandriva users 
problems.
have you installed the mandriva rpm for the IVTV firmware? in what 
folder? can you include the lines from /var/log/dmseg about IVTV? which 
kernel you use makes a ton of difference as to what version of ivtv to 
run, and it's neither clearly spelled out for Mandriva users, and is it 
often changing.
as root 'urpmi ivtv'? ....
