After reading the message from Christopher Karel: "Problems loading
IVTV_FB on FC6", I noticed that he was using a more recent version of
the kernel and of ivtv-kmdl, so I updated my kernel to the same version.
After that, modprobe ivtv failed, stating that ivtv could not be
found...
I then did a yum remove of ivtv and a yum install of ivtv. This tried to
install the old version of ivtv-kmdl. I then did a yum install of
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6.
This is now my current situation which is exactly the same as
Christopher's:
rpm -qa --qf '%{name}-%{version}-%{release}.%{arch}\n' | egrep "^ivtv|
kernel"
ivtv-0.10.1-126.fc6.at.i386
ivtv_xdriver-0.10.7-8_r3843.fc6.at.i386
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.19-1.2911.fc6-0.10.1-126.fc6.at.i686
ivtv-firmware-20070217-13.at.noarch
kernel-devel-2.6.19-1.2911.fc6.i686
kernel-2.6.19-1.2911.fc6.i686
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6-0.10.1-126.fc6.at.i686
kernel-headers-2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6.i386
kernel-devel-2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6.i686
kernel-2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6.i686
Contrary to Christopher however, ivtv doesn't load, I still get:
modprobe ivtv
FATAL: Error inserting ivtv
(/lib/modules/2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6/updates/drivers/media/video/ivtv.ko):
Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
dmesg:
ivtv: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted.
ivtv: Unknown parameter `ivtv_std'
What does this actually refer to??
TIA - Eric
