Hi,
I'm attempting to install ivtv 0.9.1 with kernel
2.6.19 (gentoo) on an AMD64 Opteron with a Hauppauge
WinTV-PVR-500. I've followed the kernel compilation
and ivtv installation instructions at
http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Howto and
http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Howto:Gentoo . Based
on what I've read in those documents, everything seems
to be in order on the software side... However, when
attempting to open a capture device (via ivtv-tune),
the system chokes with a "Failed to open /dev/video0"
message.
modprobe ivtv does not result in any messages.

When I remove the Video capture card, "Hint Corp HB6
Universal PCI-PCI bridge (non-transparent mode) (rev
11)" does not appear in the output for lspci -v and my
hypothesis is that the card has not been properly
identified (because the drivers haven't completely
loaded) due to something I'm unaware of.
I've tried moving the card around (and a different PVR
500, I have three that I'm going to put in this
machine) but I am finally stuck. Does anyone have any
suggestions, advice or things to check?
