I have been having a huge amount of problems trying to get my Hauppauge
PVR 250 working with the ivtv module (version 0.10.1) and my kernel 2.6.20.3

The computer just halts on boot (as did the Epia M I tried) when it
tries to load the ivtv driver. I had to remove the Via i2c module and
ACPI support for the ivtv module load not to reset the computer.

Unfortunately, when I do load the ivtv module it fails initialization:

modprobe ivtv

ivtv: ==================== START INIT IVTV ====================
ivtv: version 0.10.1 (tagged release) loading
ivtv: Linux version: 2.6.20.3 preempt mod_unload K7
ivtv: In case of problems please include the debug info between
ivtv: the START INIT IVTV and END INIT IVTV lines, along with
ivtv: any module options, when mailing the ivtv-users mailinglist.
ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge card (cx23415 based)
PCI: Found IRQ 10 for device 0000:00:0b.0
PCI: Sharing IRQ 10 with 0000:00:10.3
ivtv0: Cannot request encoder memory region on card 0.
ivtv0: Error -5 on initialization
ivtv: probe of 0000:00:0b.0 failed with error -5
ivtv: ==================== END INIT IVTV ====================

I have tried switching PCI slots and it makes no difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am running an ECS Via board:

Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8366/A/7
PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8366/A/7 [Apollo KT266/A/333 AGP]

Thanks,

Mark
