OK so my wife just got back from a trip (hence the reason why I had
taken the opportunty to update the mythbox) and without any prompting
she said that in addition to the jumpiness, the voices were higher.  I
guess my old ears aren't that sensitive.

Investigated this further.  Postings indicates problems with video4linux
and the PVR-350 so I removed the package and just loaded the saa7127
module (created using the howto reference above) on it's own and voila,
I seem to be back in business.

Thanks for all the help.  Without this list I think I would still be
pulling out my hair (which like my ears, is not what it used to be)
