Hi,

I'm trying to capture a recording from an old Sony analog VCR.
I can see video fine, but no audio comes through.
What am I doing wrong here?

I'm using a Hauppauge 250 and have installed the ivtv firmware
Version 2.06.039 (boot messages are below).
The system is a dual AMD 246 (2 GHz), running 32 bit Suse 10.2 with KDE.

The setup is:

/usr/bin/v4l2-ctl -i 5

mplayer -vo xv /dev/video0
  (output is below)

I brought up KMix and put every control, input and output, above 80%.

When I connect the audio cable to my sound card I can hear it,
although the sync is way off.

But how can I feed the audio through the Hauppauge card
so I can capture both video and audio?

If you think this may be a defective Hauppauge 250 card, ok - what
card would you recommend for good reliability?

The troubleshooting guide,

says:
 > Use the right firmware.
 > In particular, if you are experiencing sound problems then first make
 > sure you are using the correct audio firmware. It is a known problem
 > with older versions that the audio standard is detected but remains

I'm guessing that the "audio firmware" is the same as the video firmware,
from ivtvdriver.org, and that 2.06.039 is the latest.
