I've upgraded to slackware 12.0 for some time now and I still have firmware 
in the original /lib/firmware no hacks/patches needed

mabe you forgot to configure something in the kernel.

dmesg after attempting to load modules will most likely try to tell you why 
the firmware isn't loading.


I have 1 pvr-150 and 1 pvr-500 slackware 12.0 and kernel 2.6.22.1 ( I never 
run stock kernel from distro nothing against them,
  I just like to know what I have is compiled for exact hardware I have with

Hi Mike,

I think it is possible nowadays to do it completely with udev rules, but
I never looked into that. I'm still using a little hotplug script that
does the loading, which I've attached.
