Hi Ben,
Try installing the latest v4l-dvb repository from
www.linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb.
If that still fails, then try to debug the kernel in order to discover
where exactly the driver fails. I basically know nothing about Xen, so
I won't be able to help you there, but perhaps with some additional
information on exactly where it fails I might get an idea.
But upgrade first, I'm not going to debug the old 0.8.2 driver.
