Hi, I have a PVR-500 I just (bought and) installed on a system running Debian testing. Everything seems to be fine, other than some slight distortion which is observed as diagonal lines. They can be seen on any channel on both tuners, as well as video coming from the composite inputs. I found a somewhat relevant year old thread in the list archives (PVR500 & Diagonal Lines), but the conclusion there is not clear. In this case however I'm almost certain it's not an issue with the antenna, because a v4l tuner next to this box, being fed from the same cable, doesn't display this pattern, and also because it is clearly observed on composite input as well.
You can see the pattern on the following two snapshots. The ivtv init kernel log is attached at the end. As you can see in the log, I think it is noteworthy that the tuners on this card are made by Philips (and not Samsung). Here is the uname -a: Linux tvbox2 2.6.22-2-686 #1 SMP Fri Aug 31 00:24:01 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux The userland tools were also installed from the debian package (ivtv- utils_1.0.2-2). I am certainly planning to try to upgrade to 1.0.3 and see if this still happens, but I thought I would ask first. Any ideas? Should I try this with a different box?
