sounds like overscan.  i've had the same problem in
some video modes displayed on tvs.  not really sure how
to fix it.  there are some myth options to change the
size and position of the menu screens, but i didn't have
much luck with them.  one other thing to try is decreasing
the font size; i find that made some things fit better.
