Hello, On Christmas day I tried installing the 1.0.3-r1 ivtv driver in a Gentoo-based machine running a 2.6.23 kernel.
gandalf ~ # uname -a Linux gandalf 2.6.23-gentoo-r5 #4 PREEMPT Tue Dec 25 15:01:40 PST 2007 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2500+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux gandalf ~ # emerge -pv ivtv These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! [ebuild R ] media-tv/ivtv-1.0.3-r1 USE="-fbcon" 0 kB Total: 1 package (1 reinstall), Size of downloads: 0 kB gandalf ~ # The emerge was successful but the driver doesn't seem to work. If I rmmod ivtv and reload it by hand it appears to load correctly: gandalf ~ # rmmod ivtv gandalf ~ # modprobe ivtv gandalf ~ # lsmod Module Size Used by ivtv 112400 0 sbp2 17800 0 ohci1394 25712 1 ieee1394 71092 2 sbp2,ohci1394 usbhid 23232 0 usblp 10432 0 uhci_hcd 19084 0 ehci_hcd 25100 0 ohci_hcd 17412 0 i2c_nforce2 4736 0 nvidia 4703280 0 wm8775 4620 0 tuner 56360 0 firmware_class 6720 1 ivtv i2c_algo_bit 4932 1 ivtv cx2341x 9988 1 ivtv tveeprom 13328 1 ivtv i2c_core 17872 7 ivtv,i2c_nforce2,nvidia,wm8775,tuner,i2c_algo_bit,tveeprom videodev 23936 1 ivtv v4l2_common 14400 5 ivtv,wm8775,tuner,cx2341x,videodev v4l1_compat 11652 2 ivtv,videodev snd_intel8x0 26012 0 snd_ac97_codec 86624 1 snd_intel8x0 ac97_bus 1792 1 snd_ac97_codec nvidia_agp 5852 1 agpgart 24048 2 nvidia,nvidia_agp gandalf ~ # However when I look at dmesg I see a message about a parameter called fastfw and a message that a cx2584x driver wasn't loaded.
