Hi; I'm running Gentoo with the 2.6.22-r9 kernal, ivtv version 1.0.3-r1and have a PVR-350. What I would like to do with this is convert some old VHS tapes to DVD. Now, everything works fine, when I cat /dev/video0 > whatever.mpg, I get a wonderful mpg file that I then burn to dvd and watch on my tv. No problems.
However, I've got a number (lot) of VHS tapes with closed captioning. What I would like to do is capture this with the video stream and then burn it to dvd so that you could have a choice of either turning them on or off (the way a standard dvd is now). For me, it's a distraction to have the closed captioning on all the time, but sometimes I can't understand a word or sentence and would like to be able to turn the closed captioning on to get it, and then turn the cc back off. If I do a v4l2-ctl -b cc I can then see the closed captioning in MythTV, but when I do a cat /dev/video0, I don't get the closed captioning. Is there anyway to do what I'm looking to do? I can't see how to record without a timer in MythTV, and I only have the VCR connected to the PVR, so a timer is rather an odd undertaking, so I don't want to use MythTV. Besides, looking at their "live recordings" I don't seem to find cc in them that could be used on a dvd. Again, sorry for being so long winded, but is there any way I can do what I'm hoping to? Thanks, Vicki _______________________________________________ ivtv-users mailing list [email protected] http://ivtvdriver.org/mailman/listinfo/ivtv-users
