I recently upgraded my kernel to FC6 2.6.22.14-72 (from an older FC6).
Altough ivtv was running before, I've been chasing a sound bug so I
upgraded.
Now...ivtv isn't loading anymore. Modprobing gives me: FATAL: Module
ivtv not found.
I have reinstalled the ivtv packages for my kernel and yum show:
ivtv.i386 1:1.0.3-135.fc6
installed
ivtv-devel.i386 1:1.0.3-135.fc6
installed
ivtv-firmware.noarch 2:20070217-15
installed
ivtv-kmdl-2.6.22.9-61.fc6.i686 1:1.0.3-135.fc6
installed
perl-Video-ivtv.i386 0.13-8.fc6.at installed
Any idea why I'm not able to load ivtv? (I see the kmdl is not a
perfect version match to my kernel - but there is no later version for
download)
Thanks,
MD
I would guess that because it's not a perfect match for your kernel,
it's not in the kernel tree.
'find /lib/modules/`uname -r` -name 'ivtv*' will probably find
nothing.
find /lib/modules -name 'ivtv*' will probably find your errant
ivtv modules.
How to address it? You can either move the modules under your kernel
tree (/lib/modules/`uname -r`). Or you can find or build a proper
ivtv-kmdl package for your kernel and install that. I would say
that if you are serious about package management, then go with option
2. If you need it NOW, w/o having time for research, then go with 1.
But remember what you did, so when things go bad later, you can
try to fix them.
