What is the relationship between the MPEG (/dev/video0) and YUV (/dev/video32) outputs for ivtv-based cards? Is the YUV output providing digitized but not yet compressed video data or does it only demux then decompress the MPEG video stream from the iVTC chip and convert it to HM12?
I am asking this as the quality of the YUV stream is not the same if it is the result of a simple A/D conversion process or it is a transcoded form of the MPEG signal (where information is already lost at the stage of conversion to the MPEG-2 format). In the former case a capture into HuffYUV would preserve all the information, while the latter case would mean this is superfluous since the information content is basically the same that of the MPEG stream.
