That behaviour is correct. The pixel size on the PVR350 is fixed, so the only way to make it fit the display area is to reduce the 'resolution' and use the margins to position it. At 720x576 the framebuffer will use the maximum overscan. Unfortunately, the margins and size depend on the television.
