The DVD stream type is more compatible with DVDs. In particular it can 
be used directly in burn programs without needing conversion. I believe 
it has to do with the size of packets or something.

In general I would recommend this type if you want to burn on a DVD 
later.

Extra empty navigation packets are inserted: applications can use that 
to later fill in additional navigation information without needing to 
resize the file. There are no applications that do that, though. You 
would have to google around for more information on this.
