This isn't really the right list for asking about the dvb-usb-cxusb
driver. The dvb-usb related mailing lists would be a better place to
ask.

But since the cx28540 module is mentioned in the "TODO" comment at the
beginning of the cxusb.c file, here's an answer:

It appears that a lot of work needs to go into the dvb-usb-cx18.ko
module (linux/drivers/media/dvb/dvb-usb/cxusb.c) to allow analog
digitization and capture from the cx28542 device on the MD97500.

As part of that work, one could modify the cx25840 module, used by ivtv,
to help configure and control the digitization, but that is only part of
the work. Knowledge of how the inputs and outputs of the cx28542 are
wired up on the board is also still necessary.

ivtv interfaces to the cx28540 chips via an i2c bus provided by the
CX23415/16 PCI host interface, and digital video output is routed to the
CX23415/16 MPEG encoder.

The Medion 97500 looks like it uses an i2c bus provided by the Cypress
FX2 USB host interface chip (not an iTVC or Conexant CX2341x chip). I
have no idea where the cx28542's output digital video and audio goes on
the 97500, nor how one would retrieve it. That would be a good question
for dvb-usb-cxusb development related mailing lists. The maintainer of
the dvb-usb-cx18 module would ultimately have to get the changes into
the source.
