To tell you the current active input, freq, mute status, etc., use:

# v4l2-ctl --log-status

As another data point, since it looks like your card supports FM radio,
you can test that (with a station at 107.3 MHz for example):

# ivtv-radio -f 107.3

Also to turn on verbose debugging of your choice:

# /sbin/modinfo ivtv
# modprobe -r ivtv
# modprobe ivtv debug=...

The latest V4L/DVB staging repository has an ivtv version of 1.3.0 in
it, if you feel like compiling from source:

http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb/archive/tip.tar.bz2

tar -xjf ..., make, make install, make unload, modprobe ivtv

But beware of v4l-dvb compilation and module problems with Ubuntu Hardy
Heron:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24/+bug/220857

Read all the comments and then decide if you really want to go through
compiling from source on Hardy Heron. It looks like it won't be
straightforward.

Andy
