Dear fellow users of IVTV,

I can't believe I cannot find anything about this 'on Google' or in this
list, but I ran into a problem with the framebuffer module for the Hauppauge
350. I recently cleanly installed Kubuntu Hardy Heron with KDE 3.5.x and I
had no trouble getting X to run on my TV using the ivtvfb. Then I installed
the KDE 4 metapackage and checked whether it still worked... but it didn't.
After the login, the TV stays black (as during most of the boot sequence)
and I get this weird 'double' KDE 4 desktop. It looks like the desktop
background (without the kicker/bottom panel) and another, smaller desktop
(including the kicker) superimposed on it. The latter one is located on the
top left part of the screen and covers about 1/4th of the total screen
surface. The small one is also fully functional and to some extent I can
drag windows to the rest of the screen.

This happens only in KDE 4. If I select a KDE 3.5.x session at login,
everything works just fine. I have been changing several settings in the
system settings, particularly those in the display section, but that seems
hopeless. Despite showing two desktops (in a manner of speaking), KDE seems
to think there is only one.

So what's up? KDE 4 and IVTVFB not getting along?

Paul
