My tuner card works on XP. I have analog cable.

On Gentoo, although I get data from /dev/video0, I'm having trouble
playing the output with mplayer. I can
generate a file with output using the following command:

  # cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg
  # ls -al
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 41932800 Oct 8 23:01 test.mpg

When I play the video in mplayer I get no video and no error. Here is
the output:

  MPlayer dev-SVN-r26753-4.1.2 (C) 2000-2008 MPlayer Team
  CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz (Family: 6,
Model: 15, Stepping: 11)
  CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 0 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 0 SSE2: 0
Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX

  Playing test.mpg.

  Exiting... (End of file)

What steps can I take to troubleshoot this problem? Is analog
supported by the drivers? I see some posts
that say yes and some that say no.
