I’m currently running Fedora Core 9 and have two Hauppauge cards, an HVR-1800
(I’m using it for dtv only) and a PVR-500. The kernel that I’m currently using
is 2.6.25.14-108.fc9.x86_64 . When I upgraded to 2.6.27 I no longer got any
sound from the pvr-500 (in mythtv). The first time I encountered the problem I
just rolled back to my 2.6.25 kernel and everything was fine. I just installed
FC10 (its kernel is 2.6.27.*) on some free space and ended up with the same
problem. Now I’d like to make some hardware changes which would involve me
doing a fresh OS install. Finding driver packages for old kernel versions can
be a pain. So, either I re-install FC9 and probably live without things like
kmod-nvidia, or install FC10 and live without sound for analog Cable (most of
what I watch). Any ideas how to get audio from my pvr-500 with a new kernel?
Googling, I found somebody having similar troubles here
 http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/users/39120#39120 with SECAM (I'm
in the USA if that's important) but everything I read there revolved around the
v4l2-ctl command which doesn’t seem to exist on my machine. (locate v4l2-ctl
doesn’t find anything)
