I will test the patches, but it will have to wait, probably sometime
next week. I have started down the WinXP track. It's taking longer than
expected because I ended up doing a clean reinstall of WinXP. Before
doing that, WinXP was acting flaky. But a clean reinstall also means I
blew away all my Linux partitions. Oh well. I had been thinking the
first disk could use repartitioning, so now's as good a time as any.

I hope that by fixing my problem, it benefits others.
