With the same card and cables I can capture and play video on Windows XP using Hauppauge WinTV v6 software. On Linux I can't capture and/or can't play. Windows VLC plays the video I captured on XP with WinTV v6, but videos captured on Linux are black. Linux mplayer configuration may be wrong. GUI mplayer gives following error when I try to play a file. "Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device." In /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf: #vo=xv I tried vo=xv and vo=x11. No help.
