Assuming that this is a problem with recording, this sounds like a video
cable problem.  Get a better quality S-Video or Composite video cable.

If this is an LCD display hardware upscale/interpolation problem, then I
can't help.

If a new cable didn't yield better recordings, there's a slim chance
that the latest version of the driver (1.4.0 IIRC) would help.

I'll suggest you may want back-up your existing /lib/modules/`uname -r`
first, before the 'make install' step.
