I have Hauppauge PVR-500 installed to machine running Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS. I got it working well first after installing firmware-packages to system.
I had problem getting picture to tv screen (tried to setup scart output trough Ati vga-connector). I tried with different kernels, drivers and vga-cards. Altrough I got picture to my tv screen at least with s-video connection. But now when I started livetv in Mythtv, I got only black screen with red stripes. I think it do digital conversion and mpeg encoding well, but problem is probably controlling the tuner? To eliminate Mythtv caused problem I tried it with following: user@nikon-htpc:~$ ivtv-tune -f 252.25 /dev/video0: 252.250 MHz user@nikon-htpc:~$ cat /dev/video0 > test_capture2.mpg ^C user@nikon-htpc:~$ http://www.freewebtown.com/deatthrow/ivtv/test_capture2.mpg I got same video recorded with this method. Recorded video is same altrough input coax is connected or disconnected. I have double checked with tv that coax still works and there is analog video transmission on the frequency. If I try to record from another tuner on same card, I got usually only black video. http://www.freewebtown.com/deatthrow/ivtv/test_capture3.mpg Sometimes I got only red screen. Maybe the driver is not setting input correctly? And channel scan fails to find any channels altrough there is many analog channels transmitting on cable. Dmesg available here http://www.freewebtown.com/deatthrow/ivtv/dmesg Version info: user@nikon-htpc:~$ uname -a Linux nikon-htpc 2.6.32-28-generic #55-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 10 23:42:43 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux user@nikon-htpc:~$ modinfo ivtv filename: /lib/modules/2.6.32-28-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/ivtv/ivtv.ko version: 1.4.1 Tried also with 2.6.32.41 kernel Something wrong with driver or card firmware? Any advices how to solve the problem? Many thanks for advance!
